Slow Food began as a grassroots response to the expanding ‘fast food’ industry in Europe. Slow Food seeks to protect cuisines, regional dishes, ingredients, and small purveyors from the deluge of industrialization and to restore pleasures to our fast-paced and hectic lives. Slow Food Edmonton is a part of the world-wide phenomemon of Slow Food, an association of over 80,000 members in over 100 countries.
Slow Food Edmonton is an active and growing group of food enthusiasts. We hold several events each year, bringing attention to the unique and quality local products of the Northern Alberta region. (For more info about the organization, click here.)
By becoming a member of Slow Food International, you are able to attend any of the events organized by the Slow Food movement throughout the world, and get discounts on local Edmonton events. You will also receive a subscription to Slow, the magazine of the Slow Food Movement, as well as Slow Canada, our own national newsletter supplement to Slow. At a local level, you will be in the loop for chapter activities.
Here is how membership works: the Individual membership covers one person.
If you would like to join with your spouse, choose the Couple membership.
Couple membership does not include a 2nd subscription to the quarterly
magazine Slow, or duplicates of any Slow Food material. The couple will
receive 2 personal membership cards and all the other benefits and rights of
membership. If you are 26 or under, you can join at the Young membership
price of $45 per year.

The 3 steps to membership:
- Read these instructions carefully!
- Click the link below, and then on the next page choose “Country of Membership” to be “CANADA”.
- Choose an Individal, Couples or Young membership. Fill out the form, and make sure to choose “EDMONTON” in the section called “Choose a Slow Food Convivium (local group), if you have a preference”.
Once you fill out the rest of the form, and pay by credit card, you are done. So click on the link below to get started.
